Overlooking the town on Mt Scott, this moving tribute to the 645 men who lost their lives off the Mid West Coast in World War II is as stunning as it is nostalgic.

This heartfelt memorial site honours the 645 Australian Sailors who were lost during a World War II battle in 1941. Almost 70 years later visitors travel to Geraldton to honour those lost on the HMAS Sydney. The memorial is a beautiful design featuring a dome made up of 645 silver seagulls; to represent the lives lost. The memorial site is decorated with eerie sights; including ghostly photos of the Sydney and her crew; a statue of a wife awaiting the return of the Sydney; and a formation, made from stainless steel, which represents the bow of the ship. All elements in the memorial combine to produce a moving and educational experience.
