Upper Reach
About 11km north of Midland and in close proximity to Mann winery and Baxter-Stokes, is a still-developing wine label, producing Shiraz and Chardonnay in 1999.
Principals Derek and Laura Pearse created Upper Reach after buying a 10-hectare property in 1996. With the assistance of neighbour and expert winemaker Dorham Mann, Derek has been learning the industry since then. Their first harvest yielded 35 tonnes of fruit, most of which was sold, and 120 cases of wine.
