Hamelin Pool Stromatolites

The oldest and largest living fossils in the World!

Hamelin Pool is situated 30km from the Overlander Roadhouse where you will find the Stromatolites, the oldest and largest living fossils in the world. These outcrops of stromatolites are formed by the activities of micro-organisms and are typical of Life forms when life on earth began. DEC has erected a boardwalk to allow visitors to observe this ancient ecological phenomenon.
