Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse
The historic Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse at Augusta is situated at the tip of a dramatic peninsular where the Southern and Indian oceans meet - the most south-westerly point of Australia.
The lighthouse was first proposed in 1881, but took 15 years to eventuate. Finally completed in 1896 the tower and cottages are constructed from local limestone. Since then it has served as one of the world¹s most important navigational and weather facilities. Guided tours are conducted daily at the light tower.
