Coolgardie is an old gold-mining town in the Golden Outback, like many towns in the region they were booming during the gold rush of the 1890's but are now considerably reduced in size - Coolgardie now has a population of only 1,200.

Coolgardie, 557km east of Perth, is one one of the few towns that surivived - many towns are now ghosts towns.

Coolgardie is a true outback gold mining town with its wide roads and verandahs that reflect the history. Coolgardie is also the official starting point for the Golden Quest Discovery Trail.
