In the lower part of the Murchison District lies the town, Sandstone. This region has many features. These include; a bronzed landscape containing many picturesque locations; wildflowers, and spectacular bird and wildlife.

Drive half an hour West of Sandstone and admire the picturesque ‘London Bridge’. This spectacular attraction is formed from weathered basalt and believed to be an astonishing 350 million years old. In the past the naturally formed bridge was wide enough to accommodate a horse and sully; yet in recent times erosion has seen the bridge disintegrate to a one metre width. Visitors are requested not to walk over the landmark. London Bridge is located in an area adorn with enthralling sights and interesting breakaways.

The National Hotel

The National Hotel was the last and smallest of four built during the goldrush years and the only one still standing. As the township shrank in the 1920s, "the National" became the hub of activity in Sandstone and remains that way today. Lovingly restored, the hotel now features a below ground swimming pool and spa, and offers a range of quality air-conditioned accommodation.  more
