Super Pit
Kalgoorlie is located 595 kilometres east of Perth; and is famed for producing a large portion of Australia’s gold bullion as well as being the home to one of the biggest open cut mines in the world. This immense operation is known as the ‘Super Pit’, part of the ‘Gold Mile’; it is famed for being the richest square mile of gold bearing in the world. At 320 metres deep, 3 kilometres long, and 1.4 kilometres wide, the man made Super Pit is an intimidating experience; but one not to be missed. Whilst standing on the lookout platform, just off the Goldfields Highway, visitors marvel at the pits enormity and the hub of activity within it. Night views of the Super Pit are truly spectacular.
