One of the jewels in Geraldton's crown is undoubtedly HMAS Sydney II Memorial. Recognised as a Memorial of National Significance, set high on the hill on Mt Scott overlooking Champion Bay and the City Centre, it is a fitting reminder to the 645 servicemen who lost their lives when they went down with the vessel after the fateful battle with the German Raider HSK Kormoran, on 19 November 1941.  more
