Are you unsure about your insurance policy? Research this section of the DriveWA website to learn more about Health/Medical and Travel insurance!

Ambulance Services
Prompt recovery of travellers injured in the Australian outback can be difficult, time consuming, and expensive.

Travel insurance is important and allows you to receive ambulance cover and even a helicopter flight if the locations are far inland.

Many policies will exclude coverage for things they call ‘dangerous activities’. This may refer to scuba diving, motorcycling, horse riding, or similar activities that carry with them an element of danger.

Therefore, you need to carefully purchase a policy that will cover you for all activities you might want to undertake whilst on your DriveWA adventure.

Whilst filling out insurance policies, don’t underestimate the exciting things that can happen on your adventures. Take out good quality cover, it is worth the expense. If you are not sure about certain details, contact your professional advisor. The advisor may be a lawyer, or an insurance broker with experience in these issues.

Please visit our Health and Safety page for further information.

Extra Details Regarding Your Policy
Check that you have a current policy for the total period of time on your adventure. Don’t cut the policy period too fine. It is possible that you will love your DriveWA adventure so much that you will want to extend it.

If this is the case don’t forget to extend the insurance policies before they expire, to ensure a safe and enjoyable DriveWA adventure.

Home Insurance - while you are away!
One of the things most people often forget is their home insurance. It is not only critical to remember whether a payment might fall due while you are away, but there are also other considerations. Many household insurance policies require you to let the insurer know when you are going to be away for an extended period – please check your policy as part of your trip preparation.

Please also ensure that someone knows where you are going and when will be returning, so that they can raise the alarm if you are not back on time. It is a good idea to have someone pick up your mail and newspapers and turn your lights on and off while you are away. This will prevent your house from appearing empty.

If you are in any doubt about the requirements of your Household insurance policy please contact your insurance company or broker.
