Whale Watching

Whales can be seen along the coast Naturaliste Charters

Whales, we all love them and are amazed by them. They are the largest animals in the sea and are as majestic as any sea creature. Some people go to Ningaloo to swim with Whalesharks; but there is another great place to see these creatures in their natural habitat, none other than Australia's South West!

Cape-To-Cape Whales
From June until December it is possible to see southern right and humpback whales along the south west coast of Western Australia. There have also been sightings of rare blue whales, the largest animals on earth. This species can grow to a huge 33 metres in length. Groups of up to 20 humpback whales have been spotted in the South West. Some 25 years after the end of whaling, the population is returning in solid numbers and whale watching is fast becoming a growing tourism industry.

For visitors keen to experience these amazing creatures there are a number of whale watching options. Several boat operators offer the opportunity to see the whales at close range from the ocean; there is also land-based viewing. One of the benefits of landed-based whale watching is that there is absolutely no impact on the whales. They are also completely oblivious to your presence and so will freely engage in their natural behaviour.
