Munda Biddi Bike Trail

This tranquil forest is 100 years old Oxers Lookout is one of the premier lookouts in the Karijini National Park

There are fabulous mountain and push bike escapes available around Western Australia, around Perth and the South West in particular. One of the best known and most interesting is the Munda Biddi wilderness bike trail.

Escape by Bike with DriveWA.com
This trail has been developed in partnership by a small group of individuals (who were passionate about developing an interesting wilderness trail for bikes) and a number of Governmental, semi Governmental agencies, and the Local Communities.

The WA Department of Environment and Conservation and the Munda Biddi Foundation have played major roles.

Munda Biddi means "path through the forest" in the language of the local Nyoongar aboriginals, but the track itself is much more than that.

Beginning in Sculpture Park in Mundaring it trails through the hills of the Darling Scarp, along scenic river valleys, and through magnificent forests.

The first stage is ready for you. Once the subsequent stages are complete the Munda Biddi Track will navigate some 900 km from Mundaring (which is in the hills just out of Perth) to Albany on the South Coast of WA.

The track is made up of bush tracks, firebreaks, and old railway line tracks. Much of the trail is on gentle grades; although there are occasional sections that are more challenging.

You can savour the wildlife and plants in their quiet natural habitats. You can go for a half day or for weeks, with all your camping gear, and utilise the facilities that are available along the way.

If you do not have bikes that meet specifications or a bike rack, they can all be hired in Perth. This is one of the world’s great experiences. Try a section on your next DriveWA escape; put the bikes on the back of the car, venture to the Munda Biddi off road cycle trail and escape!
