The Bibbulmun Track

Beautiful coastline along the Bibbulmun Track Bibbulmun Track

The Bibbulmun Track is one of the world's great walks. Within its 1000km length there are many different sections for by beginners. You don't need to be a hardened bushwalker with all the right gear. You can walk during the day or night; choose one day or do a weekend walk; join guided walks or camp in one of the wooden shelters along the track.

The track, which was opened in 1998, wanders through a wide range of country and some of the most beautiful sections of Australia's south west. More than 130,000 people visit this great track each year. There are 48 campsites, with shelters, which are about 10km apart near Perth and 20km apart further south.

Each shelter has a sit down pit toilet, rainwater tank, picnic table, tent site and many have fireplaces. HOWEVER, you cannot book so it is important you have a tent in case the shelter area you want to use is full when you arrive.

There are nine towns along the way where you can book accommodation, or arrange pick ups and drop offs, on your DriveWA Bibbulmun Track escape.

Some sections can be combined with our standard self drive itineraries; these are close to the magnificent South West towns of Dwellingup, Pemberton, Walpole and Albany.

The Bibbulmun Track Foundation website is well worth a visit. We recommend that everyone considering a Bibbulmun Track escape should become a member of the Bibbulmun Track Foundation.

Walkers should ensure they have:

- A map or checklist
- Comfortable pair of walking shoes or boots
- Comfortable loose fitting clothes
- A hat
- A watch so that you can keep track of the time
- A small backpack with a bottle of water, a basic first aid kit, snack foods, insect repellent, sunscreen and in appropriate weather conditions a waterproof/windproof jacket.

It is very important that you check the weather forecasts before you leave and ensure that you are prepared for whatever conditions may be predicted.
