Rottnest island is truly inspiring, and some of the finest beaches in the world can be found on Rottnest; with its white luminescent sand, clear turquoise water, coral reefs, and amazing aquatic life. Rottnest Island is a small slice of paradise.

Situated 18 kilometres off the shore of Fremantle; Rottnest is 11 kilometres long, and its widest point a mere 4.5 kilometres. The island is an ‘A’ Class Reserve and is most famed for its stunning coastal scenery and ecologically responsible tourism principles. Rottnest is the ideal location to scuba dive, snorkel, hire a kayak, wind surf, surf, fish, explore local shipwrecks, or simply bask and swim in the sun.

For those history buffs, Rottnest is rich in it. The island was formerly established as an Aboriginal prison and still displays remanence of its eerie past; including the early colonial buildings, lighthouse and underground tunnels. In accordance with their ecotourism approach, Rottnest is a car free zone. There are bikes for hire on the island; which prove to be a useful way to discover the islands secluded beaches. Be aware of the wildlife as you ride around Rottnest. The island is plentiful in its wildlife assortment, its most famed friendly creatures being the quokkas and marsupials; from which the island drew its name.
