Toodyay
Toodyay is situated about 85km north-east of Perth in the beautiful Avon Valley and retains the charm and magic of its early heritage.
Toodyay was founded in 1836 and its buildings remain some of the finest examples of 19th century architecture, reflecting the towns early convict history.
Surrounding Toodyay are beautiful country gardens, lavender fields, olive groves, artisans, historic wine cellars, an emu farm and colonial-era tea shops, all making this the perfect setting for a relaxing weekend getaway.
Picnic by the Avon River, either in Duidgee Park or Newcastle Park, where there are BBQs, children’s playgrounds and the Miniature Railway with its miniature bridges and tunnels. Take advantage of the view of Toodyay from Pelham Reserve and enjoy a stroll along the walk trails situated between some of the oldest Jam trees in the region.
When you’ve worked up an appetite, treat yourself to a delicious meal in one of Toodyay’s restaurants, hotels and cafés. Many have alfresco dining facilities so you can enjoy the fresh country air and festive atmosphere in this historic town. There are also plenty of craft, antique, art and gift shops to browse through and find that special gift.
