Broomehill is a small farming community 297 kilometres south-east of Perth. Broomehill’s population is 503. 

Gold was discovered at Coolgardie in 1893, so a walking track was established between Broomehill and Coolgardie about 450 kilometres long – very optimistic gold diggers would walk along in search of small fortunes.

The major town of Katanning, just 19 kilometres north-west of Broomehill, is home to a large stock saleyard and an abattoir at which livestock is slaughtered.
